Tiliting TV Brackets and Mounts from TVFixings.co.uk
If you're mounting your LCD or Plasma above your natural viewing position, i.e. high up on a wall, a chimney brest, or say in your bedroom where the TV will be high up relative to your lying down position when in bed then you might want to consider a TV Bracket or Mount that gives you some degree of tilt. The benefit of these brackets is that they will typically adjust the viewing angle of the TV by up to 15 degrees so that you get a more natural viewing angle. Typicaly TV Brackets and mounts that we have in our range that tilt include the XUT series, the LWB2, the PWB2 and the TWB2 (suitable for Philips TV's with the wider 800 x 200 or 800 by 400 VESA fittings)
All of these brackets allow you to tilt your TV up to a maximum of 15 degrees and then lock the viewing angle in place. Subsequent adjustment of the viewing anlge of the TV bracket is pretty easy though so don't worry if you don't get the angle right first time around because the angle can be changed with the TV mounted on the wall.
The only downside of using a TV Bracket or TV Mount that has some degree of tilt in it is that the TV will hang further away from the wall. Typically Tilting TV Brackets and Mounts are twice as far away from the wall as comparative Flat on the Wall brackets. They do this because they have to create a space between the TV and the wall for the bottom of the TV to tilt into. So, if you are using the tilt feature the bottom of your TV can finish very close to the wall but the top will be up to 70-80mm away from the wall and if you don't use the Tilt feature then your TV will be around 45mm away from the wall versus around 25-30mm for the true flat on the wall TV Brackets.
Our personal recommendation is that you should go with a flat on the wall bracket unless your room or viewing position really demands some degree of tilt. We make this recommendation because todays Plasma and LCD Tv's have a much better viewing angle than they did a couple of years ago so for most situations you won't need to tilt the TV and a TV mounted on a flat bracket looks, in our opinion, much better.
